  • Overview

    Our Social Services Director provides comprehensive discharge planning including assisting residents with the identification of housing, outpatient treatment and employment. Additionally, this position participates in the organization-wide planning and implementation of organizational goals through relationship to local providers and participation in performance improvement program and organizational committees.



    • Master’s degree in social work or behavioral science from an accredited college or



    • Five (5) years’ experience working in an inpatient psychiatric, forensic services system, or residential correctional sex offender program. 
    • Demonstrated leadership and organizational and clinical observational skills. 
    • Ability to assign and coordinate work activities and monitor the performance of subordinates. 
    • Appreciation of the need for and ability to maintain appropriate personal boundaries in working with sexual offender populations. 
    • Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with a diverse staff and a commitment to enhancing cultural competency. 
    • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.


    • Licensed or licensed eligible as a social worker in South Carolina.


    1. Establishes relationships with community service providers that will support residents upon discharge.
    2. Conducts sex offender treatment groups weekly with a co-facilitator.
    3. Identifies key areas for improvement, develops and monitors indicators and implements process improvements both departmentally and organizationally.
    4. Develops, monitors, and evaluates standards, performance indicators, goals and objectives, programs, policies and procedures, and process indicators for the delivery of program services.
    5. Maintains liaison with facility management and treatment staff to develop new treatment programs.
    6. Provides consultation to administrative staff on appropriate utilization of program services, program development, and facility-wide residential issues.
    7. Consults and facilitates effective interdisciplinary treatment team functioning.
    8. Exchanges information with other agencies to provide continuity of care for patients receiving services from more than one agency and to better meet facility needs.
    9. Provides training to the clinical and program services staff.
    10. Cultural Competency - Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats residents as an individual, and considers the culture of the resident when providing care and treatment.
    11. Age Specific Competency - Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of residents of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each resident.
    12. Assures that all documentation is completed by staff per contract and accreditation standards.
    13. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
    14. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
    15. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
    16. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
    17. Perform other duties as assigned.
